Meet Us Monday: The Barnett Family

We are continuing our Meet Us Monday Blog series - now re-introducing two former ILS teachers who are now pursuing studies at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This year’s Chapel Offerings are supporting the Schultz and Barnett families.

Today, we are introducing you to Mr. Shawn Barnett, his wife, Molly, and their two children, John Ambrose and Elise Adair. Mrs. Barnett taught fourth grade and piano lessons at ILS from 2013-2019 then only piano lessons from 2019-2021. Mr. Barnett taught Latin, History, and Theology from 2017-2021.

1. What is a favorite ILS memory?

For both of us, meeting each other through ILS was pretty great. Then for Mrs. Barnett the annual Talent Show Drama Piece was always a highlight. Mr. Barnett remembers the great chariot race and the almost disaster that occurred! Everyone was glad the rider was not injured!

2. What was a highlight of your summer?

We enjoyed taking a road trip visiting our families in Ohio and Missouri before we moved to Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

3. What lead you to pursue studies at Seminary?

A deep and abiding love for Christ and His Truth and the desire to proclaim it. More than ever the Church needs faithful pastors.

4. What are you most looking forward to in the upcoming year?

We look forward to visiting friends and family who live near us here.

5. How can the ILS community pray for you and your family?

Prayers for continued love and patience in raising our children in Christ, prayers for endurance in studies and work.
