Class of 2023: Linden

We are in our final countdown to the end of the 2022-2023 school year! It is a particularly bittersweet time for our 8th grade students as they prepare to graduate. To help celebrate and recognize our ILS Class of 2023, we have again launched our “Meet Us Monday” blog series to introduce you to the members of this year’s graduating class.

Each week, we will share interviews with each of our 8th grade students, in which they share more about their favorite ILS memories and traditions, words of wisdom they’ve received over the years, and other reflections from their years here with us at ILS. We hope that you will enjoy these reflections, and join with us in congratulating and celebrating these students!

Meet Us Monday: Linden, ILS Class of 2023

1. How long have you attended ILS?

I have attended ILS for 10 years.

2. What house are you in and was your favorite House competition?

I am in House Irenaeus. One of my favorite competitions is the engineering competition during Lutheran Schools Week. Irenaeus won this year. It is fun to bond with the house while figuring out how to make a structure out of just toothpicks and marshmallows.

3. What is your favorite ILS memory? (Or, which ILS tradition will you remember the most?)

It’s not possible to pick one favorite memory. My favorite tradition is Camp. I love all the time I get to spend with my classmates, especially the team building exercises and just having fun in the creek. This year it was fun when Avery and Brandon tipped their canoe over.

4. What will you miss the most about ILS?

I will miss all my friends and teachers. The Christian community is really amazing. I get to be close to everyone, which is very special at Immanuel, and I don’t think I will get to experience it the same way in the future.

5.  How has a teacher impacted your life personally in a way you will never forget?

Miss Davis the 1st has helped me with creative thinking. She helps me look deeper into books to see the Christian aspects and teaching about God – even from the non-Christian authors. This is something I will treasure about what she has taught me – that there is good and beauty in the literature we read.

 6. Do you have a favorite Hymn of the Year or Verse for Memorizing?

“We Praise You and Acknowledge You” is one of my favorite hymns. The tune is so moving and uplifting. When you pair it with the words, it is such a beautiful message about hope and trust in God.
