Class of 2023: Nathan

We are in our countdown to the end of the 2022-2023 school year! It is a particularly bittersweet time for our 8th grade students as they prepare to graduate. To help celebrate and recognize our ILS Class of 2023, we have again launched our “Meet Us Monday” blog series to introduce you to the members of this year’s graduating class.

Each week, we will share interviews with each of our 8th grade students, in which they share more about their favorite ILS memories and traditions, words of wisdom they’ve received over the years, and other reflections from their years here with us at ILS. We hope that you will enjoy these reflections, and join with us in congratulating and celebrating these students!

Meet Us Monday: Nathan, ILS Class of 2023

1. How long have you attended ILS?

I’ve been here since 3rd grade.

2. What house are you in and was your favorite House competition?

I am in Irenaeus. Favorite competition? That’s hard. Probably basketball. I just like basketball. We didn’t win the competition, but I put up some good points.

3. What is your favorite ILS memory? (Or, which ILS tradition will you remember the most?)

It’s so hard to pick just one. But if I had to pick, I would say the 3rd grade dance party with Ms. Curcio. Mrs. Krumweide, our 3rd grade teacher, was gone for the day, so Ms. Curcio was our sub. She said if we were good for the whole day, we could listen to music and have a dance party at the end of the day. Gavin had brought these CDs, and we just had a great dance party to end the day.

4. What will you miss the most about ILS?

Chapel. I feel like it is good. I can’t always make it to church on the weekends, so I really like being able to worship at least once a week, and twice if I can get to both chapel and church.

5.  How has a teacher impacted your life personally in a way you will never forget?

I would say Pastor Esget, because he’s expanded and gone deeper into theology and the Gospels, and helped me understand more about the Bible.

 6. Do you have a favorite Hymn of the Year or Verse for Memorizing?

My favorite piece of music we sing at ILS is the Magnificat.
