National Lutheran Schools Week is almost upon us! From January 24th through 30th, ILS will join the nearly 2,300 LCMS preschools, elementary schools and high schools throughout the country in proclaiming and celebrating God’s work among us in Lutheran schools.
This year’s theme, Life Together in Christ, provides the opportunity to give thanks for and celebrate the long tradition of the wonderful community that is ILS. Throughout the week our activities and special events will center around this theme as we acknowledge the ways we pray, learn, serve and play together.
As we know, Immanuel has been creating a special place for Life Together in Christ for our students and families for more than 70 years. One special project we would like to share during this week is to remember those who have created the wonderful Immanuel community during this history.
We are asking for your help to create a special display of photos of the school, students and teachers from throughout the school’s history. Alumni and current families are invited to share favorite photos from the school’s history, which we will then display in the undercroft.
Photos can be scanned and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have identifying information, such as the year the photo was taken, or names of students or faculty in the photos, we would welcome that information as well. Photos may also be mailed to Immanuel Lutheran School, 109 Belleaire Road, Alexandria, VA, 22301.
Thank you, in advance, for your help with this project! We look forward to sharing more about Lutheran Schools Week in the coming weeks.
